January 25, 2022 at 12:02 pmI currently own a SFR property in California. I am considering selling and reinvesting while using a 1031 exchange. Is it possible to get the proceeds from the sale into a solo 401k instead of using the 1031? What would be the pros and cons?

1) This confirms that you can’t contribute, deposit or otherwise use into or via your Solo 401k the proceeds of real estate owned personally (whether sold via a 1031 exchange or otherwise).
2) Please also note that a 1031 exchange does not apply to investments made via your Solo 401k since Solo 401k investments are made on a tax-deferred basis.
