    Scenario:
Corporation paying Employer of Record in foreign country that pays the sole owner’s salary in local currency.

    Questions:
Does the salary paid to the owner through the foreign EOR qualify in calculating contributions to Solo 401k? Assumption is neither corporation nor EOR would generate a U.S. W2 form.

Would an employee contribution to a Solo 401k (within annual limit) result in a W2 form being issued by the corporation? Assumption is the contribution originates from the corporation (deducted from foreign EOR-paid salary).

If the owner is paid a salary by both the corporation and the EOR, can the aggregate sum be used to calculate employer contribution limits? Assumption is corporation produces W2 form for U.S. salary, foreign salary is not reflected in any W2 form.

Ultimately, the income would need to be reported as earned self-employment income on one’s US income tax return in order to justify contributions to the Solo 401k.
