Is it correct that when subject to RMD’s, we cannot pay the taxes then roll the sum into a Roth 401K. But can roll anything over the RMD but of course must pay the taxes.

February 28, 2024 at 11:13 amCorrect that RMDs proceeds are prohibited from being transferred to an IRA.
Yes, you can directly transfer to an IRA any amounts that are NOT part of your RMD. A separate form 1099-R would need to be issued to report the non-taxable direct rollover of non-RMD funds to an IRA.
