I invested in a real estate fund through my Schwab held Solo401k Roth account.

Schwab allowed me to wire money directly online through my solo401k account.

Is there anything else I need to do or any other form I need to fill out for IRS purpose etc.?

Also I gave the same account number to receive distributions etc, do I need to notify anyone when I receive distributions..?

Any other taxation or IRS related item I ned to watch out for with this investment as far as wiring money to investment and receiving distributions are concerned..?

    Thanks

No form needs to be submitted to us merely because the Solo 401k owner made the investment or wired the funds directly from the Schwab Roth Solo 401k account.

It is important that the investment is documented in the name of the Solo 401k and under the EIN for the Solo 401k. The Solo 401k owner signs investment documents as trustee of the Solo 401k. See the following real estate investment procedure. https://www.mysolo401k.net/solo-401k/solo-401k-real-estate-investment-procedure/

The fact that Roth funds were used is tracked at the plan level, so the investment does not need to include Roth in the investment title.

No. There is no need to notify us when the real estate fund makes investment distributions back to the Roth Solo 401k account.

Investment income and proceeds attributable to the Roth investment need to flow directly back to the Roth Solo 401k account. A payment from the real estate fund back to the Roth Solo 401k is investment income to the plan and is not a distribution from the Solo 401k to the Solo 401k owner.

Form 1099-R reporting applies when the Solo 401k owner takes a distribution from the Solo 401k or processes a conversion. Clients provide us the information needed for Form 1099-R reporting using the applicable form at:

    https://www.mysolo401k.net/learn/forms/

The main items are as follows:

The investment needs to remain an investment of the Solo 401k until the property is sold.

Funds used to make the investment need to come directly from the Roth Solo 401k, and investment distributions and proceeds need to return directly to the Roth Solo 401k rather than a personal account.

Finally, the fair market value of the real estate fund investment counts toward the total value of the Solo 401k for Form 5500-EZ purposes. If the total Solo 401k plan value exceeds $250,000 as of December 31, Form 5500-EZ reporting applies. The total includes the alternative investment as well as the other Solo 401k accounts and assets. Information regarding annual Solo 401k deadlines is available here:
